Spec Ops: The Line the Dark Horse of 2011?

"Do you still intend to rescue me Captain? After you have seen what I have done. I will admit, my method's are, Unconventional, but they are, neccessary.", So the voice of one U.S. Army Colonel John Konrad, a man of whom it is the objective of the protaganist, Captain Martin Walker to rescue. His voice sounds respectable, deep and sinister, his words spoken with pride, his voice tells us all we need to know, we're going to endure some perculiar encounter's, with some very perculiar characters in future Dubai. And so from there on out we witness 55 second's of fast-pased, high-octane in-game footage from the upcoming future military third person shooter "Spec Ops: The Line". However, this was over Six months ago, this was but a Debut trailer, what do we know now? Not an aweful lot, yet it's that shroud of mystery over the title that gives it the edge on many other title's, there is no chance of over-hyping. The promise of a Co-Op Campaign linked to the the single players plot, is fantastic news as there is a huge audience for Co-Op title's, I mean, whats better than experiencing a huge, hectic battle with terrorists in a destroyed futuristic Dubai? Experiencing a huge, hectic battle with terrorists in a destroyed futuristic Dubai with some friends.
The game looks stunning, with the sand being thrown throughout the game world causing havok, destroying the famous Sky-Scrapers Dubai is home to, the weather plays a key role in the title, as it offers for many sand effects to manipulate the very ground you stand on, the Dubai of the future is a desert, a wasteland built upon sand, with sand being an enemy, there is no escape. The game seems to look how "Army of Two" and "Army of Two: The 40th Day" should have, with the cover system taking influence from titles such as the beast that is the Gear of War franchise.
After looking in-depth at the trailers released as of yet, it would seem that battle's take place in huge open area's from out door locations, to scaling floor after floor of the shattered ruin's of sky-scrapers. The game, from all of the trailers, seem's to offer a number of tremendous set pieces, from falling from buildings, to rooftop bombardments from rocket squads resulting in multiple numbers of cover being destroyed to walking through sand storms and more...
With the game being scheduled for release in early 2011, there is still much time for preperation and with a Multiplayer Beta confirmed at E3 2010, it seem's evident that the developers are keen to make the multiplayer as enjoyable as possible by gaining feedback from the gaming community on what is proving a chore whilst playing.
With the game being developed by the goliaths hat are 2K game's, the very developers whom were responsible for the fantastic Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion, Borderlands and Bioshock I can see this being propelled in to the gamers must-buy catalogue...
We may not know a huge amount, but sometimes, you don't need to.
Keep your eye's peeled folk's, we're in for a bumpy ride...

i agree, from what i have seen of it. It's one of the best looking games ive ever seen, it seems to have good gameplay value and it offers freshness to the 3rd person genre with the enviromental effects from the sand

I really think the sand's effect that can completely change each level can really add a whole new dynamic to the gameplay. Looking forward to seeing more.

Oh yeah, Spec Ops, was wondering what happened to the title!

Sounds pretty nice, and yeah, 2K is pretty good. Wish their sports division would do better, because I prefer them over EA.

Nice blog by the way, you got me hyped for it again now :D
